On average, only 16% of shark attack victims die. But Second Beach in South Africa has a 100% mortality rate. Six people in five years have been attacked and killed here. Now, townsfolk are scared, and they are asking the obvious question: Why? This strange statistic has attracted the attention of shark biologist Dr Matt Dicken who makes a brave journey to Second Beach to unearth the reasons for the attacks. With little local reseach into the local marine life, Matt must undertake his own research and is swamped with information - including rumours of witchcraft and urban legend. To separate fact from fiction, Matt must undertake the inevitable and dive down into the waters of possibly the most dangerous place to swim - and take on the sharks on their own turf.
