(The Nature of Britain/2011) Join Alan Titchmarsh on a journey of discovery through eight key British landscapes, as he tells the stories of the surprising relationships between the land and the creatures that live there, and pieces together the puzzle of what lives where ? and why!

The Nature of Britain also celebrates our pride in the very best of Britain?s flora and fauna: from magnificent boxing hares to bizarre dung beetles, and from the story of the tiny harvest mouse to that of the mighty golden eagle. Anna's Wild Life

ti 15.07.2014 08.30 - 09.00 30 minViasat Nature

(Anna's Wild Life/2012) All in all it?s another action packed season, with all the mishaps, mayhem and magic that is the inevitable result of setting up home with wild animals. Having left the city far behind, Anna and her team have taken to zoo life lock, stock and barrel. Now that the zoo is on its feet, they are able to concentrate on the key roles for any modern zoo. That means, playing their part in the European breeding programmes for endangered species. It also means the zoo can focus more on education and conservation, especially of the native wildlife of West Wales. Their first step is to convert the American bison paddock into an African plains exhibit for endangered species, like the highly endangered Scimitar horned oryx. This means having to move two of the most dangerous animals in the zoo world, which is no mean feat.

Hope For Wildlife

ti 15.07.2014 09.00 - 09.50 50 minViasat Nature

(Hope For Wildlife/2009) Mother Nature can be cruel enough - and when man and nature collide, wildlife is usually the loser. This series follows the amazing work of Hope For Wildlife Society, which looks after injured and orphaned wildlife in the Canadian wilderness - rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing thousands of animals each year. The founder of the Society, Hope Swinimer, her staff and volunteers want to right what?s gone wrong in the wild. They?re overworked, under-funded and up to their eyeballs in baby raccoons injured raptors and orphaned deer. As winter thaws, orphaned baby animals begin trickling into the rehab. By spring, it?s filled to capacity. And the rehab is fighting for survival, too. Hope scrambles to raise money as government support dwindles. In the face of it all, Hope is driven by her compassion and belief that every animal matters. An injured pigeon receives the same care as a wounded bald eagle. Not every animal can be saved. Tough choices must be made. There isn?t always a happy ending, but there is always Hope.

NaturopolisU

ti 15.07.2014 09.50 - 10.45 55 minViasat Nature

A new era is here: welcome to Planet City. The end of 2008 marked a significant shift in the history of humanity - we are now a predominantly urban-living species. Today, every modern metropolis must respond to a fundamental question: how can nature play a central role in their development, which is both ecological and sustainable, and which allows humans to live in harmony, like in an ecosystem? New York, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Paris are pioneers. Each city is a giant laboratory, experimenting and developing urban ecology, according to its own natural history. Through their investigations, scientists, artists, architects and naturalists will find themselves at the forefront of these major technological and architectural challenges. Their aim is to create a synergy between city and nature, and work on the process of developing the ingredients for tomorrow?s world.

ti 15.07.2014 10.45 - 11.45 60 minViasat Nature

(Wildlife Safaris/2009) Wild Safaris are the epitome of adventure travel. In this spectacular series we go in search of nature?s greatest wonders. Nature's Babies

ti 15.07.2014 11.45 - 12.40 55 minViasat Nature

(Nature's Babies/2006) These fascinating specials celebrate some of the most intriguing, exciting and adorable animal babies. Growing up can be fun for these cuties but it also has its traumas. We see how at every stage of a baby animal?s development it learns to fend for itself. Just how well it copes with each encounter dictates its ultimate success.

Not unlike humans, a baby?s experiences, being traumatic, funny, tragic or a moving example of nurturing, determines their path to learn how to survive. The way our wild babies handle these experiences marks their passage into adulthood.

Every programme is self contained and features a variety of species, drawing on the cuddliest, fuzziest and most fascinating species from across the wildlife board: mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects.

It?s about disgraced individuals trying to reclaim their lives and their reputations. It?s also a forbidden love story.
